This new graphic novel titled Organisms From An Ancient Cosmos is written and drawn by Zahler and sees an alien spacecraft arriving over the Pacific Ocean. The nations of the world greet this seemingly silent visitor with brute force leading to widespread destruction on both sides.

However, the battle and the alien presence still leaves many questions unanswered. Who are they? Where do they come from? Why did they choose to come to Earth? Are more on the way?

The story follows bereaved billionaire Carlton Land, biologist Aimee O’Donnell, and USAAF Chief Scientist Kenneth Yamazaki as they attempt to answer these questions and protect Earth and humanity from these aliens.

As part of the book’s press release, Zahler provided some additional details: “In this graphic novel, which is my second, I explore morally complex characters, intimate human drama, large-scale world-building and speculative science.”

He added: “I started working on the piece at the very start of lockdown and finished over a year later when I got my first shot. Creating ‘Organisms from an Ancient Cosmos’ has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m thrilled that it’s being published by Dark Horse Comics, whose books I’ve been reading since the ’80s.”
